Artist's Statement

My strongest beliefs as an artist, a designer, an illustrator, and an animator are more or less contained in five sentences:

Everything I do tells some kind of story.

Whether true or fictional, realistic or fantastic, all of my work contains a story or information of some kind. Everything I do tells a story, and I can tell a story about anything, because...

I believe that everything is interesting
if it's presented the right way.

There are no boring subjects. This is what I try to show in my work: clarity in confusion, the novel in the mundane. Every story is worth listening to if it's well told. This is why...

I would rather understand other people's thoughts than express my own.

I already know what I think. I'd rather know what you think, what you believe, what you want to say - and what I can do to help you say it. In fact...

If I can't do it, I'll learn how to do it;
if I can do it, I'll learn how to do it better.

I am always willing to learn new and better ways of doing things. Criticism is always welcome, as are opportunities to learn. After all...

Design is like theater: it's not about the designer,
but what the designer gives to the audience.

That's all I have to say.
